@masto yes i was referring to DIN connectors. they're called "diodenstecker" in germany which i translated literally but that doesnt seem to be a thing in the anglo-american sphere apparently. thank you for the explanation 😃

@grindhold Sorry it's been 3 months, but I need to figure out how to subscribe to comments here. Anyway, I'm not sure what a diode-plug is. Are you referring to the DIN connector? The NABU's keyboard interface is unique to the NABU and not compatible with anything else as far as I know. It is a one-way RS-422/485 signal sending ASCII at a weird baud rate.

The PC AT keyboard interface I think you're talking about also has a serial interface, but it is completely different: it's bidirectional, synchronous, and uses "scan codes" rather than ASCII.

"i didn't use a computer". a microcontroller is a computer 😛
jk lol. i find this impressive. is it default for those keyboard diode-plugs of that era to use just two pins? would this computer be compatible with typical diode-plug keyboards from the early 90s? like what i plugged into my highscreen 486 before the advent of ps/2
