Under the hood of my whatever-it-is

This is how I put way too much effort into making some total nonsense. You can hear this setup on my self-titled "album," which I composed by just hitting play and record and then flapping away at my guitar to see what would happen. Of course, I added reverb and then a bitcrusher just to make it all worse. And it got way worse: https://squalorpossum.bandcamp.com/album/squalor-possum Basics as follows. The patterns before line 0 determine tempo and do the count-in (as if it helps with this sort of thing). Pattern F0 way off to the left is just a "feeder" with a jump-to-line command that gets reset into the longer pattern at the end of the project (coupled with a random deletion, this allows the last measure to repeat a random number of times before jumping to line 0 and resetting the instrument patterns). Each drum sound and the bass gets its own randomized pattern thanks to the "3D" (write random value) effect. This sends notes to either the proper generator or a "dead-end" garbage-collector module that isn't hooked to any output [I plug this into the output at the end so you can hear it]. This setup allows for the whole random phrase to be recorded and repeated, vs. simply generating random notes on the fly. My "vocal" sampler module is playing a longish recording of a TTS utility speaking a series of random lowercase letter strings, pitch-shifted and distorted, set to periodically trigger playback at random points of the recording. So that's what I do, sometimes, at night. All my Bandcamp stuff is always free. If you want me to grind out an unlistenable "song" just for you for some godforsaken reason, I'll do it for five bucks. https://ko-fi.com/squalorpossum/commissions
