Demonstration of the manual steps involved in milling a single-sided PCB using a CNC milling machine. Timestamps: 0:00 intro, 0:07 machining 1:02 isolation routing, 2:29 drilling, 3:25 outline milling, 4:31 soldering 5:07 soldering LEDs, 6:04 soldering resistors, 7:21 soldering pin headers, 8:49 testing & result, Recorded for and at the FabLab UniTrento. The machine used in this video is a Roland monoFab SRM-20. The board was designed in KiCAD and the toolpaths for the milling operations were generated using mods CE. The drilling operation was handled in Fusion 360.

@uglyhack I thought we had one of those SMT sample books with 1206 resistors but it turns out the two we have are both Capacitors, so that part was improvised 😄
It does luck fun, but If I had known beforehand I would've made proper through holes for soldering them on the back.

Cool to see the process! Was the resistors soldered onto SMD pads an aesthetic choice or did you just find out you were out of parts? I kind of like the look.

That's really cool! reminds me that I need to get back to working on an Amdek dxy-100 pen plotter that I'm hoping to use to replace the ink transfer stage of my own pcb fab process.
