when learning Tidalcycles i transcribed a good amount of dancefloor riffs and melodies to get acquainted with Tidal's notation. Trying these sequences out using different synths led to combining them into interesting outcomes. A few of these phrases from others were the base for this one: Blondes - Moondance (first arpeggio), C418 - Moog City (second arpeggio), Meek - Happy (bassline), these riffs were then put together into a simple harmonic sequence that picks chords from a fixed set. The 4th bar chord is drawn by chance and the appearance of parts of "transistor" comes from a coin toss. It's a cheap and (hopefully?) effective way to draw a bit of life from otherwise bland loops i first tried this coin-toss method in the first track of my Winter Solstice set. The idea is to have a tightly controlled bit of randomness inside regular and predictable 4/4 structures, so as to keep challenging the ear's expectation at some point this should become a proper full track, needing a lot of work on the drums, but I'm in no rush [the "inspo: squarepusher" note at the top was meant as a reminder to try this with an ambience closer to Squarepusher's Windscale 2, maybe someday]
