A disastrous event seems to be inevitable.”

Making of:
The displacement responds to low frequencies, I was experimenting with interval trigger module for rotation axis switching, but the result seems a bit off, since the kick is not always on the first beat.
I also ran into recording and rendering problems, so I had to Frankenstein a few frames at the beginning using blender vse.
The beat is a field recording of a garage door, chopped up in audacity. The other sounds are made with surge XT and Vaporizer, ran through some processing in bespoke, together with the beat loop.

Technique notes:

  • Trying out polyphonic pad in the beginning but should have selected both tracks for simultaneous start.
  • happy with ducking by keeping kick always a few db louder and heavy limiting
  • tried automation for fade-out of the pad, but kinda failed. Maybe mask it in delay or reverb next time.
  • masking transition between samples with a combination of bitcrush and reverb mapped to x axis of screen works nicely.
